In
general, installing additional memory will render a machine to perform better.
However, there are a few instances when the computer in fact slows down
after adding memory. A common cause
for this is that the inherent cache memory
is insufficient to cope with the
extra memory address loading. Another
reason is if you are using a Windows 9x or lower, the additional RAM may not be
handled properly.
This issue may be best resolved by upgrading your CPU
in order to upgrade you cache
memory. Or,
by upgrading your OS to Windows 2000 or XP if your machine will allow it.
Also, it is wise to conform to the recommended
upgrade option most suitable for your computer. Check our Memory Configurator to
help you identify these options.
