No.  Except for very few proprietary systems, installing memory can be easily performed by anyone.  When you buy a computer, it is generally provided with a technical reference guide to help the owner locate parts and instruct on how to replace or upgrade them.  One just has to observe some precautionary measures when handling components especially to avoid ESD damage.
